Train guards threaten to launch 48-hour strike

Railway guards have declared a 48-hour strike from midnight on Friday (20) in protest over delays in implementing key railway reforms.

Speaking during a media briefing today (17), General Secretary of the Lanka Railway Controllers’ Union K.D.D. Prasad said the decision to launch a strike was taken by the members of the union.

He further stated that the strike is being carried out based on several demands including the implementation of key reforms within Sri Lanka Railways.
