Fishing vessel taken into custody with narcotics in southern seas brought to Dikkowita Harbour

A multi-day fishing vessel taken into custody by the Sri Lanka Navy along with narcotics in southern seas has been brought to the Dikkowita Fisheries Harbour.

The Navy stated that the vessel arrived at the harbour at around 6:00 a.m. today (24).

A total of five individuals who were on board the multi-day fishing vessel have also been taken into custody.

The Navy further stated that the narcotics found packed in 11 sacks on the vessel have been identified as crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’) and heroin.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the vessel had departed from Gandara.

The quantity and value of the narcotics seized have not yet been calculated.
