Discussion underway to table No-Confidence Motion against Education Minister

The opposition is preparing to table a no-confidence motion against Minister of Education Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

A discussion in this regard is currently underway under the auspices of Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa at the opposition leader’s office in Parliament.

According to members of the opposition, the no-confidence motion is being planned due to several shortcomings in the current government’s education reforms, including content deemed unsuitable for children, numerous errors in subject matter and the failure to address these issues in a proper and systematic manner.

Representing the opposition, several Members of Parliament participated in the discussion, including Gayantha Karunathilleka, Dr. Harsha de Silva, Mano Ganesan, Palani Thigambaram, Ravi Karunanayake, Dilip Wedaarachchi, Sujith Sanjaya Perera, J.C. Alawathuwala, Ajith P. Perera, Dr. Pathmanathan Sathiyalingam, M.S. Uthuma Lebbe, Chathura Galappaththi, Chamindrani Kiriella, Anuradha Jayaratne, Imran Mohamed, V. Radhakrishnan, Kins Nelson, Chithral Fernando, Rohini Wijerathna, M.T.M. Thahir, W.H.M. Dharmasena, Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, D.V. Chanaka, Mujibur Rahman, MLAM Hizbullah, Jagath Withana, Sujeewa Senasinghe, B. Ariyawansha, S.M. Marikkar, Nizam Kariapper and Dayasiri Jayasekara.
