A few showers may occur in the Uva province and in the Batticaloa, Ampara, and Hambantota districts today (12), the Department of Meteorology stated.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts after 2.00 pm. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm can be expected at some places, the Met. Department added.

Mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere over the island.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts during the early hours of the morning.

Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
