Expert committee appointed to draft National Policy on Medical Education

The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has appointed a special expert committee to draft a national policy on medical education in the country.

The 15-member committee has been tasked with preparing recommendations aimed at strengthening and streamlining the medical education sector.

The committee will be chaired by Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo.

The committee is expected to formulate a comprehensive national policy on medical education in Sri Lanka, recognising the strategic importance of strengthening medical education to meet the country’s national healthcare needs.
