Magnitude 6.3 earthquake hits northern Japan, no tsunami warning issued

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 hit northern Japan on Friday, ⁠the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The epicentre of the earthquake was off the coast of Miyagi ⁠prefecture at the depth of 50 kilometres, the ⁠agency said, adding that no ⁠tsunami warning had been ⁠issued.
