Sri Lanka’s inflation climbs to 4.7% in April

The overall inflation rate in Sri Lanka, as measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) on a year-on-year (YoY) basis, increased to 4.7% in April 2026 from 2.4% recorded in March 2026, according to the Department of Census and Statistics.

The department stated that YoY inflation of the food group rose to 1.1% in April from 0.7% in March, while non-food inflation increased to 7.8% from 3.8% during the same period.
