The Court of Appeal on Thursday (26) granted more time for the Attorney General’s Department to submit a comprehensive report with respect to the Writ Application filed against Shanmugam Kumaran Tharmalingam alias Kumaran Pathmanathan (KP).

The AG informed  Justice A.H.M.D. Nawaz and Justice Vijith Malalgoda that the AG department needs more time to examine the cases filed against the accused who was one time LTTE’s arms procurement wing leader and ‘international secretariat’.

The Writ Application was filed by Parliamentarian and Propaganda Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP),  Vijitha Herath, last month.

The respondents for the case include the Army Commander, Inspector General of Police, and Controller General of Immigration and Emigration Department.

The case will be heard again on 31 August.
