Duminda Silva and 10 others released on bail

UPFA Parliamentarian Duminda Silva and 10 other accused in the killing of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra were released on bail by the Colombo High Court today.

They were each ordered released on a Rs 50,000 cash bail and two personal bails of Rs 2 million and were also barred from leaving the country, Ada Derana reporter said.  

On March 13, the Attorney General indicted Silva and 12 other suspects in connection with the killing of the former MP and Presidential Advisor on trade unions.

Indictments were filed against them at the Colombo High Court on 18 charges including unlawful assembly, murder, conspiring to murder and abetting murder.

Premachandra and four others was gunned down on October 08, 2011 in a shooting which took place in Kolonnawa, during the local government election. Silva was also wounded in the shooting.
