Missing persons panel to hold public sittings in Trinco

The Presidential Commission to Inquire into complaints regarding Missing Persons will conduct public sittings in the Trincomalee District from June 27 to 30, 2015.

Public sittings will be conducted at the Muttur Divisional Secretariat on June 27 and 28 while sitting at the Trincomalee District Secretariat will be held on June 29 and 30

Complainants from the Muttur, Seruwila, Eachilampattu (Verugal), Kinniya, Thampalakaman Grama Niladhari Divisions have been invited to appear before the Commission on the abovementioned dates Muttur Divisional Secretariat.

Complainants from the Town & Gravets, Padavisiripura, Gomarankadawela, Kantalai, Morawewa, Kuchaveli Grama Niladhari Divisions have been invited to appear at Trincomalee District Secretariat.

The Commission invites any persons or organizations within the abovementioned Grama Niladhari Divisions to submit their complaints to the Commission on the above dates, H.W. Gunadasa Secretary to the Commission said.

Meanwhile a group of persons staged a protest outside the Muttur Divisional Secretariat today when the commission held public sittings, alleging that they have no trust in the domestic mechanism to probe allegations of human rights violations.
