AG halts Tiran’s arrest until next hearing

The Attorney General on Monday (28) yet again halted the arrest of Parliamentarian Tiran Alles until the Fundamental Rights petition filed by the Parliamentarian at the Supreme Court is heard again. 
 

Alles filed the FR petition seeking an order to prevent his arrest in connection with an alleged financial misappropriation amounting to approximate Rs. 640 million at the Reconstruction and Development Agency (RADA), Ada Derana Court reporter said.

 
The police on April 09 also recorded a statement from the MP in this regard. Earlier, the Fort Magistrate banned the foreign travel for the Parliamentarian owing to this allegation. The case will be heard again on 06 July.


Meanwhile, considering of the Fundamental Rights (FR) petition filed against several individuals including Samurdhi and Housing Minister Sajith Premadasa, over the misuse of Samurdhi funds, was also postponed until July 10 by the Supreme Court.
