Body of 90-year-old woman found in the woods

The body of an elderly woman has been discovered at a wooded property containing cinnamon trees in the Annasigala area in Uragasmanhandiya.

Police said the deceased has been identified as a 90-year-old resident of the area.

The discovery was made following information received from residents in the area, who had stumbled upon the body.

The cause of death is yet to be ascertained while the remains have been placed at the Elpitiya Hospital for the post mortem examination.

Uragasmanhandiya Police has launched an investigation into the death.
