Pradeep Nilanga Dela appointed acting Diyawadana Nilame

Pradeep Nilanga Dela has been appointed as the acting Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa from July 01 until an election is held for the next Diyawadana Nilame.

In a statement issued today, the Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs Chandraprema Gamage said that Pradeep Nilanga Dela has been appointed as the temporary custodian of the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy until the next Diyawadana Nilame is chosen or until another temporary custodian is appointed.

Dela Bandara was elected as the 19th Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa on July 1st 2005.

He acted as the Basnayake Nilame of Ruhunu Maha Kataragama devalaya and Sabaragamu Maha Saman devalaya before being elected to the post.
