Chamal Rajapaksa to be named as PM candidate?

A request has been made to nominate former Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa as the Prime Ministerial candidate of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), Higher Education and Research Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama said.


The observation was made at a press conference held in Colombo on Thursday (02).


“However, the former Speaker has apprised the President that he is about to retire from politics,” said Amunugama.


The Minister also pointed out that the request was made by several Parliamentarians who represent neither pro nor anti-Mahinda Rajapaksa clan.

 
He also went into say that the crucial decision to name the PM candidate is stuck in a rut as the SLFP is yet ask the opinion of the other political parties of the UPFA, in this regard.
