July 4, 2015   01:18 pm

The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) says that it has still not taken a final decision regarding contesting the forthcoming election with the United National Party (UNP).

SLMC national organiser Shafeek Rajabdeen discussions on the matter have not concluded yet and that, however, the party is expected to reach a decision within the next couple of days.

He stated that the Muslim Congress has already received an invitation from the UNP to contest the General Election together.

However, Rajabdeen added that the matter would be further discussed between the party’s representatives and that a proposal has also been put forward stating that the SLMC should contest the election alone.

He stated that a special discussion of the party’s representatives which was scheduled to be held yesterday (03) did not take place and that it has been rescheduled for a later date.
