A knife-wielding foreigner attacked and wounded three women at a restaurant located near Maya Avenue roundabout, along Havelock Road in Colombo.

The attacker was an employee of a photography studio located near the restaurant along with the victims, however the foreigner was reportedly sacked yesterday over a cash dispute.

He had arrived at the eatery earlier today and attacked the women with a knife, severely injuring them, before a police officer on duty at a nearby police post arrived at the scene.

When he failed to bring the situation under control, the police officer opened fire at the foreigner.

The women and the foreign national were severely injured in the bizarre incident and have been admitted to the Kalubowila Hospital.
