Police reports against Wele Suda ‘displaced’

Police reports against Wele Suda ‘displaced’

July 16, 2015   03:40 pm

The Attorney General today sought more time from the Colombo High Court to decide on whether to proceed with the case filed against suspected underworld kingpin and drug trafficker, Samantha Kumara alias ‘Wele Suda’.

The attorney representing the defendant had previously informed the court that the police investigations report pertaining to the case has been displaced and that therefore it is unable to continue with the hearings.

Accordingly, the attorney requested that his client be released.

When the case against drug-related offences was taken up before the court today, the counsel representing the Attorney General stated that more time was required to study the request.

After considering these points, High Court Judge Lalith Jayasuriya decided to postpone the case until August 16 and ordered the Attorney General to inform the court regarding the decision on proceeding with the case.
