Ravi Jayawardena, who is a Director and Current Affairs head of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC), will likely be appointed as the new Chairman of the Corporation, a source told Ada Derana.

Jayawardena would be appointed as the Chairman before the President and assume duties from tomorrow (4), the source added.

Jayawardena, who previously served at the Prisons Department, is also a law graduate from Colombo University. He joined the SLRC after the new government came to power following the January election.

The former Chairman of the SLRC, Dr. Somaratne Dissanayake, resigned from his post with effect from August 3, due to personal reasons. Dr. Dissanayake was appointed as the Chairman of Rupavahini on January 10.
