UPFA Colombo district candidate Udaya Gammanpila on Tuesday (11) threw a challenge to former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka for a debate about an alleged deal by the former President with the LTTE during the last presidential election.

The observation was made at a press conference held at the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) headquarters.

This came after Patali Champika Ranawaka, at a press conference, claimed that he would testify against the former President on the alleged deal as he possesses enough evidence prove it.

Responding to a question raised by a reporter, Gammanpila also said that he invites the former Minister for a debate, in this regard.

Commenting on the controversial death of former national rugby player, Wasim Thajudeen, he said, “Even a close relative of Thajudeen through a Facebook status update had urged not to use this case for a political advantage. We expect an unbiased investigation.”

While commenting at the conference, former Minister Dilan Perera said that he urges the police to reinvestigate the murder cases of Rohana Wijeweera, Sagarika Gomes, and Vijaya Kumaranatunga as well.
