Newly elected UPFA MPs oppose National Govt - Vasu

A group of newly elected Parliamentarians of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) held a discussion in Colombo today with the participation of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, former UPFA MP and Left Democratic Front leader Vasudeva Nanayakkara said.

He stated that a large number of newly elected MPs representing the UPFA attended the meeting and that the topic of forming a National Government was extensively discussed. 

Nanayakkara said that the MPs present at the discussion objected to the forming of a National Government with the ruling United National Party (UNP).

He stated that Susil Premajayantha did not participate in the discussion.

The Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), the mian constituant of the UPFA, today appointed a committee to formulate a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the forming of a National Government with the UNP.
