MP-elect T.B. Ekanayake says that he been removed from the UPFA Executive Committee and that he has received respective letter.

Yesterday, S.M. Chandrasena, Pavithra Wanniarachchi and former MP Kumara Welgama were too removed from the UPFA Executive Committee.

Speaking to Ada Derana, Welgama said that he received a letter signed by the Acting General Secretary of the SLFP, Duminda Dissanayake, informing of his removal from the party’s Central Committee.

He stated that the second letter is from the Acting General Secretary of the UPFA, Prof. W. A. Vishwa Warnapala, stating that he has been removed from the UPFA Executive Committee, based on a request from Dissanayake.

However, no reasons have been given for the sudden removal, he said.

On August 17, the Acting General Secretary of the SLFP had also sent a letter to the Commissioner of Elections informing him of the removal of 13 central committee members and naming the new members.
