Pradeep Nilanga Dela appointed Diyawadana Nilame

Pradeep Nilanga Dela has been appointed as the Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa.


The election to elect the next Diyawadana Nilame was held today (8). Pradeep Nilanga Dela has been appointed with 205 votes in favour.


Earlier, the Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs Chandraprema Gamage appointed Pradeep Nilanga Dela as the temporary custodian of the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy until the next Diyawadana Nilame is chosen or until another temporary custodian is appointed.


Dela Bandara was elected as the 19th Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa on July 1st 2005 as well.


He acted as the Basnayake Nilame of Ruhunu Maha Kataragama devalaya and Sabaragamu Maha Saman devalaya before being elected to the post.
