AG claims witness intimidation in Thajudeen case

The Attorney General today informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate regarding the alleged intimidation of witnesses in the murder case of former Sri Lankan Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen.

Senior State Counsel Dilan Ratnayake appearing for the Attorney General informed the court that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched a special investigation regarding the matter.

He also sought permission to send the mobile phone belonging to Mr Thajudeen, which was found recently, to the Colombo University’s Computer Science Division for analysis and a report. 

Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris granted permission for the mobile phone to be sent for analysis. 

Postponing the case until October 22, the Magistrate also instructed the CID to submit a report on the findings of the investigation o the aforementioned date.
