Begging ban inside trains

The Department of Railways has decided to impose a ban on begging inside trains with effect from November 01. 

Railways Commercial Superintendent Wijaya Samarasinghe said that the decision was taken after taking into consideration the problems faced by commuters due to beggars and pickpockets.

He stated that individuals who disregard the decision and continue to engage in begging inside train carriages will be handed over to the police.
