Court prevents SF Loku Malli from leaving country

The Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate has ordered to prevent Iron Ranasinghe alias SF Loku Malli, who is said to be the main suspect in the Anuradhapura nightclub attack, from leaving the country, Ada Derana reporter says.


The police have thus far arrested 20 suspects in connection with the murder of nightclub owner Wasantha de Zoysa.


Alexander Wasantha Wickrama de Zoysa, an ex-Karate champion who is said to be the owner of several Guinness World Records, was hacked to death by a gang during a brutal attack on his night club on Sunday (25).


Several individuals including the manager of the nightclub were injured following the attack, which also resulted in large scale damages to the property. 


Six suspects arrested by Anuradhapura HQ Police and produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court today after being presented to the Specialist Judicial Medical Officer of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital. 


Meanwhile two suspects arrested previously and held under 24-hour detention orders were also ordered remanded till November 09 by Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate Umesh Shanaka Kalansuriya.


He also instructed Anuradhapura Police to expedite the arrest of the remaining suspect involved in the incident who are in hiding and evading police.   


The chief suspect and mastermind of the attack, an army deserter who was once attached to the Special Forces, is also evading arrest. 


Six suspects who were arrested in connection with the murder were remanded till November 09 by the Anuradhapura Magistrate on October 27.
