The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (CoI) into serious acts of fraud, corruption and abuse of power, also known as PRECIFAC,  will be submitting an interim report regarding the progress of ongoing investigations to President Maithripala Sirisena next week.

Secretary to the commission, Lesil de Silva, said that a report on one completed investigation will also be presented to the President.

He stated that out of over 1,200 complaints received by the commission thus far around 800 have been forwarded for relevant investigations. However, around 300 complaints do not come under the jurisdiction of the commission, he said.

The secretary further said that investigations into around 50 complaints are currently active.

He said that after the interim report is submitted the commission expects to complete the final report within a month’s time.

The special commission was appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena to investigate and inquire into serious acts of fraud, corruption and abuse of power, state resources and privileges.
