Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa claims that certain individuals who committed wrongdoings using the names of members of his family are attempting to save their own skin by pinning the blame on the Rajapaksa family.

Speaking to reporters following an event in Colombo yesterday, the UPFA MP said that various allegations are currently being leveled at his kith and kin.

He alleged that certain accused in ongoing cases are being asked to frame his brother former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his son MP Namal Rajapaksa in exchange for their release.

After such assurances are given they are taken to magistrates and the testimonies are being recorded, Rajapaksa charged.

“When wrongdoers want to save their skin they will give our names,” he said.
