Parliament adjourned following tense situation

Parliament proceedings were suspended for 10 minutes, a short while ago, due to a tense situation which had prevailed as a result of a heated argument between several MPs and a physical confrontation.

According to reports, certain opposition MPs allegedly attempted to assault Mujibur Rahman inside the chambers while he was delivering a statement regarding the death of former rugby player Wasim Thajudeen. 

As the UNP MP was expressing views regarding the controversial issue, opposition MP Shehan Semasinghe objected saying the matter cannot be discussed as the case is still being heard in court. 

A heated argument between had ensued while the Parliament was adjourned for 10 minutes.
