Woman dead, around 40 injured as bus goes down precipice in Lindula

(Update) A woman was killed while around 40 other persons were wounded after a bus toppled down a 40-foot precipice near the Vinayagar Temple on the Lindula-Nuwara Eliya road. 

The incident had occurred at around 8.00am this morning while the injured passengers have been admitted to the Lindula Hospital for treatment, the police spokesman’s office said. 

A bus transporting a group of employees of the Tea Research Institute was involved in the accident, police said.

The deceased is a 55-year-old woman who succumbed to injuries after being hospitalised.
