SLFP now wearing bulletproof clothing – Dilan

State Minister of Highways Dilan Perera says that certain groups are attempting to shoot the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) in its head and heart but they will not succeed because the party is wearing bulletproof clothing.

“To those who have accepted contract from the UNP to destroy the unity within the SLFP, what we have to say is that they will not be able to fulfill that contract,” the party’s spokesperson told reporters in Colombo.

He stated that party supporters know very well the calamity faced by the SLFP due to splits within the party in the past.

“One group is attempting to the shoot the Sri Lanka Freedom Party’s heart while another is attempting to shoot the head. But to them both we say the SLFP is now wearing bulletproof clothing to protect the head and heart and therefore the party cannot be split.”

He stated that the SLFP-led UPFA suffered two successive election defeats due to mistakes of that government but that does not mean all the good things done by that government should be underestimated.

Regarding the upcoming Local Government election, Perera said that the party’s central committee has decided to give nominations to all incumbent UPFA members in LG bodies, if they have not been found guilty by court.
