Pivithuru Hela Urumaya General Secretary and Parliamentarian Udaya Gammanpila today requested the public to hoist black flags in houses, shops and vehicles in January first week as a mark of protest against the activities of the government.

The observation was made at a press conference held in Colombo today (28).

He said that the era of both ‘toiyan’ and ‘baiyan’ will also come to an end as of January 8 next year.

Gammanpila went into say that the ‘toiyan’ who encouraged and supported the new government from its origin have now disappointed about their prior decision.

He also pointed out that the majority of the ‘toiyan’ and ‘baiyan’ now have one common goal to see an end of this government.

“After the new government came to power, this country’s economy collapsed, national security threatened, and culture and civility destroyed,” Gammanpila said.

Therefore, the Parliamentarian asked the public to hoist black flags in houses, shops and vehicles in January first week.
