Former Minister of Coconut Development and Janatha Estate Development Jagath Pushpakumara has informed the Presidential Commission of Inquiry investigating into large-scale fraud and corruption (PRECIFAC) that he is unable to appear before the commission today.

A spokesman for the commission said that the former Minister informed the commission via email that he will be unable to appear as summoned due to an illness.

Pushpakumara has been accused of obtaining a state property under his wife’s name and developing the land with funds of the Coconut Development Ministry.

He had been summoned to appear at the commission to give a statement regarding the complaint for the investigation.
