Three persons shot dead in Wellampitiya

Three persons have been shot dead in the Wellampitiya area last night, Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara told Ada Derana. 

The gunmen are alleged to have arrived in a three-wheeler and after the shooting fled the area.

The shooting had occurred at around 11.55pm last night in the Gewal Vissa area in Wellampitiya.

The deceased have been identified as a 19-year-old youth, a 24-year-old youth and a 49-year-old man.

They were rushed to the Colombo National Hospital with critical injuries following the incident, however were pronounced dead on admission.

The cause for the shooting has not been ascertained yet while Welampitiya Police is conducting further investigations.
