Cecille Kotelawala’s bail plea rejected

The Colombo High Court today further remanded former Ceylinco Chairman Lalith Kotelawala’s wife Cecille Kotelawala till April 27.
Attorneys representing Mrs Kotelawala submitted a bail application on behalf of their client when the case was taken up, however it was rejected by the court.
Cecille Kotelawala, who was evading courts, was arrested by immigration officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake upon returning to Sri Lanka on February 05.
Her husband Deshmanya Deshabandu Jeewaka Lalith Bhupendra Kotelawala, who was the chairman of Ceylinco Consolidated, was charged for the misappropriation of 26 billion rupees of investments from the failed Golden Key Credit Company.
Cecille Kotelawala, who is the sixth accused of the case, had fled to the country and Interpol had issued warrants and red notices for her arrest.
