Four prisoners escape at Kegalle court

Five prison inmates managed escape while at the Kegalle Magistrate’s Court today after assaulting prison guards, however one of the prisoners has been apprehended by authorities once again. 

The incident had occurred at around 3.45pm when the five inmates, who are suspects in several crimes including burglaries, were brought to be before the court. 

However, they had escaped from the holding cell at the Kegalle Magistrate’s Court after assaulting a prison guard, Ada Derana reporter said. 

One of the inmates was apprehended during the escape attempt while the other four had managed to flee the court premises. 

Authorities are currently attempting to track down the escaped inmates and apprehend them. 

One of them is a resident of Nochchiyagama while the rest are from Kegalle.
