UPFA MP Dinesh Gunawardena today denied reports that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party had supported the decision to increase the benefits of the Members of Parliament. He added that the proposal was made by the government and passed by the government.

We got to know of the proposal through the party leader and when it was convey we expressed our unwillingness to support it, he added.

The SLFP will rise up against any move that is detrimental to the public interest, he claimed.

Gunawardena also added that 500 UNP Local Government members will participate in the rally scheduled to be held on March 17 against the ETCA with India.
