MR will neither form new party nor allow SLFP to win - Buddhadasa

March 25, 2016   06:53 pm

Former Kaduwela Mayor G.H. Buddhadasa today claimed that the leader of the National Freedom Front (NFF) MP Wimal Weerawansa has made a secret “mega deal” with the government and that is the reason why he has not been arrested as of yet.

Addressing a press conference in Colombo, he said that the Weerawansa and Frontline Socialist Party’s Kumar Gunaratnam have the same charge of “false passport”, however the former Minister is roaming free while the latter is in prison.

The former Mayor said that the law should be the same to everyone and that the law should also be implemented against the UPFA MP.

Buddhadasa said that although Wimal Weerawansa criticizes President Maithripala Sirisena, he does not criticize Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and that it gives reason for doubt.

Speaking on the SLFP crisis, he said that no matter what Mahinda Rajapaksa says in public the former President will never create a new party and neither will he allow the existing party to win elections.

He said that the “common enemy” will definitely win if the UPFA splits and contests separately.
