Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne insisted that the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) as a union has no rightful authority to interfere into the appointments made to the Ministry.

The observation was made while speaking at an event held in Kalutara this afternoon (29).

“If the GMOA wants to do so, what is the point of our officials working here anymore? They can come and takeover our positions,” he stressed.

He also pointed out some 40 hospitals across the island were closed in recent past owing to union’s interference into ministry affairs.

“It will be only innocent people that get into trouble due to this acts, not doctors…we cannot fear this mafia anymore,” the Minister added.
