Sajin released on bail

Former parliamentarian Sajin de Vass Gunawardena, who was arrested on charges of financial fraud, has been released on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate.

He was ordered released on a cash bail of Rs 500,000 and 4 personal bails of Rs 500,000 each after being produced before Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilipitiya today (8).

He was arrested by the CID on June 27 following an investigation initiated into a complaint lodged by a Director of a private company accusing Gunawardena of defrauding him for over Rs. 600 million.

The former MP has also been charged for allegedly misusing vehicles belonging to the President Secretariat Office as well.
