Man dressed in Burka arrested at BIA

Police have called for background reports regarding the man who was arrested while dressing in a ‘Burka’ at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake.

He was arrested this afternoon by airport security for suspicious behavior. 

During questioning, the 30-year-old from Colombo 12 had said he was dressed in a Burka, full body clothing worn by Muslim women, in order to surprise his girlfriend who was returning from Qatar. 

However, as some of his statements were contradictory, he was handed over to Katunayake Police and will be produced at the Negombo Court.
