Pada Yatra will only change their weight - Hirunika

UNP Colombo District MP Hirunika Premachandra says that the incumbent government has absolutely no reason to fear the Joint Opposition’s Pada Yatra as the only thing it will manage to change is the weight of the individuals taking part in the protest march.

“Nothing will change when they come to Colombo from Kandy,” she said, responding to a question from journalists following an event in Kolonnawa on Saturday (30).

If the incumbent President changes or the Prime Minister changes or if the government topples we should be afraid but no such thing will happen, she said.

Premachandra said that the SLFP and the UNP have decided to continue with the national government for 5 full years, instead of the previously agreed 2 years.

She stated that apart from reducing the weight of those taking part in it nothing will be achieved through the protest march, which has been named ‘Jana Satana Pada Yatra’.

“The President will not change, the Prime Minister won’t change and it will not change the fact that Mahiinda Rajapaksa is a Member of Parliament,” the MP said.
