Two teenagers who self-immolated in Badulla die

Two teenage girls aged 17-year-olds who committed self-immolation over a love despite have succumbed to injuries in Badulla, the police said.


The girls, both are cousins, have reportedly set themselves on fire after a father of one of the victims had lodged a complaint with the police for his daughter of having an affair with a boy, Ada Derana reporter said.


The incident has occurred last evening in Madulsima area. According to the reporter, one girl has succumbed to injuries on the same day, while the other was pronounced dead this afternoon.  


The Madulsima police are conducting further investigations.
