Johnston Fernando grilled at FCID

Former Minister Johnston Fernando arrived at the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) today to give a statement regarding the alleged import of a consignment of rice without cabinet approval under the previous government. 

The FCID is conducting an investigation into the import of 222,717 metric tonnes of rice for Lanka Sathosa without the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers.

A spokesman said that a statement is currently being recorded form the UPFA Kurunegala District MP regarding the complaint. 

Fernando had recently been summoned to the President Commission of Inquiry (CoI) over the same incident.
