Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that one year ago the Sri Lanka was a heavily indebted country unable to pay back loans and that the national government has managed to turn things around and achieve many things during this short period.

He stated that they were handed a “garbage dump” but just like they did for cricket, the country started to win after the rouges were kicked out.

Speaking during a ceremony to mark the completion of one year of the SLFP-UNP national government in Matara today (19), he said that they accepted a challenge and the country is now heading on the right path of progress.

He said that by the time the national government marks its second year, even more achievements would be celebrated and the country would have moved forward.

The prime minister called on every citizen to join hands irrespective of political party affiliations in order to help build the country.
