UPFA Ratnapura District MP Janaka Wakkumbura says that he will resign from the position of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Organiser for Kalawana electorate.
He announced this decision after a proposal calling for his resignation from the position of Kalawana Organiser was approved during a SLFP central organizations meeting held today (24), Ada Derana reporter said.
Several SLFP Parliamentarians currently aligned with the ‘Joint Opposition’ have said that they will resign from their respective district and electoral organiser posts in the coming days in protest of the removal of several party stalwarts from the organiser ranks by the party leadership.
The SLFP central committee last week appointed 40 new District and Electoral Organizers while 13 loyalists of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa were removed from SLFP organizer posts.
Just days later, UPFA Parliamentarian Dullas Alahapperuma said that he has decided to step down from his post as Matara district SLFP leader. MP Bandula Gunawardena also announced that he has decided to resign from his post as the SLFP organizer in Homagama.
