Rohitha Abeygunawardena requests permission to go abroad

UPFA MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena has requested to release his passport and sought permission to travel abroad, Ada Derana reporter said.
The request made through a Counsel when a case filed against him over non declaration of assets and liabilities was taken up for hearing at the Colombo High Court today.
The Commission to Investigate Allegation of Bribery or Corruption filed the case over the allegation of failure to declare his assets estimated at Rs. 41.2 million. According to the commission, Abeygunawardena has acquired this property as a bribe during 2004-2006.
The case will be taken up for hearing again on 9 September.
