SC rejects Tissa’s petition challenging UPFA national list

September 30, 2016   05:11 pm

The Supreme Court today rejected the petition filed by Professor Tissa Vitharana challenging the National List appointments of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA).

The petition states that appointing candidates who were defeated in the election to the UPFA National List was unlawful and therefore sought a court order annulling the appointments.

However, the Supreme Court decided to reject the petition on grounds of insufficient information.
