Ministers should first inform Cabinet about corruption - Rajitha

If there are corrupt politicians in this government, Ministers should inform it to the Cabinet in the first place before talking to newspapers, Health Minister and Co-Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Rajitha Senaratne says.

He expressed this view while responding to a question, regarding a statement made by Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara, at a press conference held in Colombo this afternoon (05).

The Minister pointed out that Ministers should apprise the Cabinet first without making such statements to the media in this regard.

Senaratne also went onto say that due to the drop in tea exports, authorities may find it difficult to address the demands of the estate workers.

Thousands of tea estates workers staged protests to press their demand for a daily wage of Rs, 1000 last week. The estate owners however have deemed it high, citing the current “risk-prone” business environment.

Meanwhile, Co-Cabinet Spokesman Gayantha Karunathilaka said that an office will be established in Battaramulla under directions from Piyatissa Ranasinghe in a bid to implement the Right to Information Act next week.
