I’m of the view that there was nothing wrong in the manner of how the IGP responded to the controversial call during a meeting in Ratnapura, Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne said.

He made the observation while speaking at a press conference held in Colombo on Wednesday.

Minister Senaratne went on to say while on the call, the IGP did not pressurize that the certain individual “should not be arrested.”

He also slammed former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa over his remark about the “professionalism” of the present IGP.

The Minister alleged there was an IGP during the ruling of the previous regime who was ready to do any kind of ‘dirty work’ for the government.

“There are still discussions going on about the proposed traffic fine hike. However, the terms of the proposal would not be changed,” he said.
