Former Minister Gunaratne Weerakoon says that he has decided to step down from his position as the Electoral Organiser of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) in Karandeniya, Galle District.

The former minister of resettlement cited a deep disappointment as his reason for this decision.

Weerakoon says that there is no use of the organiser post as he had failed to win at the last parliamentary election.

The former minister said that he has sent his letter of resignation to party leader President Maithripala Sirisena and SLFP general secretary Duminda Dissanayake.
